The Family and Marriage in Britain

January 6, 2009

I found this book from the 70´s on my mum´s book shelf.

Amongst other things is says something about relationships:

It is clear, therefore, that the modern relationship between husband and wife must be an extremely intense affair, and, as such, is potentially unstable. This is not to say, however, that modern marriage is actually characterized by instability, and we shall return to this point later. What I mean is that if we have so improved the marital relationship that is depends entirely upon free choice and personal responsibility, we have made it at one and the same time potentially more rewarding and potentially more unstable. But this is a good, not a bad thing.

Not much has changed then..
